This is Precious Asiimwe. She is 22 years old and is currently in her first year of a Bachelor of Laws degree at Uganda Christian University. This is what Precious told us about her life before we met her through the charity...
My name is Precious Asiimwe and I am a student at Uganda Christian University in my first year of pursuing a Bachelor of Laws. I was born into a family of six, looked after by our single mother. My family background is very poor and not certain about life. It is my sad memory that my paternal aunt advised me to get married in order to get school fees, but I believed that God had a purpose for me. I am blessed that every other day I see my dream draw closer.
My father was murdered in cold blood and I had a guardian who followed him when he succumbed to kidney failure. It was a double tragedy and life seemed like a living hell. Well, I did not give up but dwelled in God. I went to Kiwafu Primary School, St. John Secondary School in a remote area of Rukungiri district and St. Agnes Girls’ School. I always worked hard to get good grades to keep me moving.
When I joined the Uganda Christian University I did not have anything with me but two pens and all I wished for was to attend lectures of my dream course and for God to pave the way for my tuition. He has made it so by surrounding me with his messengers of beautiful people. My thirst and hunger for knowledge will surely lead me to the best.
Life means friends and family who can trust and who trust you. I am pretty much on the positive side of life but like other orphans, I do have many days of depression and sadness. Regardless, my life has witnessed happiness through knowing Mr. Kevin Grant, Mr. Andrew Smith and Mr. Walter. I have seen lighter and better days and you are my heavenly-sent family.
All my life I have longed to be a successful advocate, who will extend charity to the many souls of orphans and children who would wish to study but have lacked the opportunity. I thank you so much for the opportunity of generosity that you have rendered to me and spared time out of your life to offer me a scholarship. You have lifted a burden from me and my family, bringing peace and happiness by supporting my dream and rescuing my future when I was on the verge of dropping out. Thank you so much for the great opportunity and generosity towards my life. I will be that beautiful candle you are proud of. I aspire to become much better than my current situation. I promise to defend the scholarship with good grades, utmost discipline and flexibility to cooperate with you at all material times. I long for that time I will partner with an orphan to offer charity and render all necessary support to people like me as way of giving back to God and the Small Is Beautiful Africa charity. I want someone to look back and say because of “HER” I did not give up and made it in life.
My soul will be at full peace when I become an excellent advocate, render help to the many unfortunate children and make you proud for choosing Precious to support. Kindly always guide me, for I am always ready to learn, and call upon me where you need me to assist – I am always willing and flexible. God bless and develop more beautiful hearts through Small is Beautiful Africa.
